Christmas Pop Up Shop!

I’m very excited to be part of a Christmas Pop Up shop this year, for makers in Inner Western Sydney.

The shop is being run from the studio of the very talented Lara Cross, of Glory Box Designs, at 4/62 Constitution Rd in Dulwich Hill. It’s conveniently located right near Arlington Station on the light rail network.

There’s a big variety of work for sale, so it’s an excellent place to find something truly unique.

The shop runs from November 14th to December 24th.

I’ll be selling lots of bird mobiles made from beautiful vintage silk and linen, greeting cards, and of course, my new colouring book, “Hidden Places”.

Items can also be purchased via the Facebook page. Here’s the link!

Its Here!

Feeling very excited, as my colouring book went officially on sale today, at the Newtown Festival. Art on King are stocking my book and selling them in their colouring book stall today!

Over the next couple of weeks, there will be a few more shops stocking them in the inner west, and one in Leura. Details will be forthcoming!

In the meantime, they are also available to be ordered in my Etsy store.

Almost there! Colouring in for grown ups

After many months of drawing, I’m finally editing my completed book, ready for printing. Its been both harder and easier then I imagined when I started out. Harder, because I’ve needed attention to detail at a level not required for any of my previous work. Easier because working on these drawings has truly been a joy.

I’ve spent many mornings wandering home from my sons school, looking at gardens, and trying to spot cats or unusual flowers. My daughter has been an excellent companion on these walks. Three year olds seem to love nothing more then to look at every tiny detail, of every leaf and flower they encounter.

So here is the cover. The release date for the book is coming soon!

Colouring Fun

Over the past few months, I’ve been working on images for a colouring book. I’ve always loved to colour. There’s few things more exciting then opening a brand new set of pencils, delighting in all of the colours, and their woody fragrance. So many possibilities!

There’s been lots of influences on my book so far. First and foremost though, is flowers. Real flowers, fake flowers, vintage floral fabrics, wallpaper designs, vintage embroidery, my own tiny courtyard garden, and all of the tiny city gardens I walk past each morning as I take my son to school.

I spent hours playing in my grandmothers garden with my sister as a child. The front yard was full of flowers. The back yard had huge camellias, that we tried to make perfume from. I do NOT recommend home made camellia perfume! Right down the back, was a mass of huge trees, that we pretended was a magical forest, with a giant bird cage in the middle.

So far, my book has some magical forest scenes, forest creature, birds, and flowers – LOTS of flowers. Some secret pathways, hidden doors, and other magical places. I’m having a lot of fun, and reliving some lovely childhood memories.
